Battling Acne

Acne is a very common skin condition. İt all starts with excess oil production so it depends on the level of sebum .Acnes form when hair follicles under your skin clogs and it is related with bacterias on the skin .Acne usually form on face ,neck, back, chest and shoulders. İt is common in teenagers and adults and it can cause scaring.

Causes:

  • Hormonal Changes(puberty ,pregnancy)
  • Dirty skin(hygiene)
  • Genetics
  • Climatic conditions

Types Of Acne

  • Non-İnflammatory / Commedonal Acnes:Usually topical prescription medications

A-Whiteheads

Clogged pores that are closed to air.

B-Blackheads

-When clogged pores expose to air and turns out in a darker colour

  • Inflammatory Acnes :Commonly oral treatment plus topical treatment.

A-Pustules/Pimples

  • If the clogged pores contain pus and are inflamed

B-Cysts

-If clogged pores are larger,pus filled and located deeper in the skin

C-Nodules

  • Clogged swolen por much deeper them then pustules

What Is The Difference Between a Pimple and a Acne

Most people think that an acne and a pimple is the same thing however there is  a slightly difference between two .Pimples are the symptoms of acne where as acne is the disease .

Ways To Treat Acne

1-Non-Inflammatory Acne:

  • For a temporary solution : pore strips can be used
  • For a long run: –Clay mask once a week

                            –Chemical Formulas such as

                                        – Salicylic acid(BHA)

                                         – Glycolic acid(AHA) 

İf those didn’t work use :

Retinoid/Retinol/Retinaldehyde Formulations

Or light retinoid like adapalene ( differin )

There are also prescript spot treatments such as:

-Aklief (trifarotene)

-Altrenol (tretinoin lotion)

-Retin-amicro (tretinoin gel)

  2- Inflammatory Acne:(Pustules)

Salicylic acid

-Glycolic acid

-Adapelene

-Benzoyl  peroxide spot treatment

Severe Inflammatory Acne

Should be treated by boarded certified dermatologists.

Oral Contraception:

  • Isotretinoin(accutane)

It shrinks oil glands and treatment lasts for 6 to 9 months and your doctor  makes you get lab tests everymonth to see if you are safe

Other Treatments:

  • Antibiotics
  • Laser theraphy
  • Steroid injection
  • Drainaige extraction
  • Retinoids

Preventation

  • Wash your face twice a day minimum
  • Especially after exercise
  • Change your pillowcase at least once a week and replace them with satin ones
  • Reduce stress from your life
  • Avoid harsh and drying products
  • Use moisturizers with antı-ınflammatory ingredients like niacinamide.
  • Last and most importantly use suncreen and reapply every 2 hour!
